Projects in Advanced Development
Stage
Prattsburgh Wind Farm
The small
town of Prattsburgh is located in the beautiful Finger
Lakes region of central New York. Global Winds Harvest began developing this
54 megawatt project in 2001, with a meteorological prospecting
grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development
Authority.

In 2003 GWH
partnered with UPC Wind (now First Wind) and in 2007 the long
and rigorous state-level permitting process was completed.
First Wind is now sole owner. Construction of the $150 million
project is scheduled to begin in 2010 and is expected to
provide over 50 full time jobs – with hundreds of thousands of
dollars in goods and services being poured into the local
economies.
Over the
life of the project millions of dollars will go to the
Prattsburgh and neighboring communities in the form of
landowner lease payments and PILOT moneys to local towns and
schools.
Bear Creek Wind Farm (Kansas)
Global Winds
Harvest began developing the Bear Creek project in 2004 and
partnered with Acciona in 2007. Located just south
of Syracuse, KS, this 135 MW project recently received
county approval and is scheduled to begin construction in
2010. Approximately
90 x 1.5MW machines will be sited over several thousand acres
of crop and grazing land and the power from these turbines will
be delivered into the Southwest Power Pool. The estimated cost
of the project is over $300 million and payments to the county
will exceed $6 million over the project’s 20+ year
lifespan.

Bitter Root Wind
Farm
Located in
western Minnesota, at the northwest end of the famous Buffalo
Ridge wind resource area, the Bitter Root project is sited on
over 10,000 acres of cropland and involves close to 50 partner
landowners. The 138MW project is currently going through the
state-level permitting process and construction is expected to
begin in 2010. Development chores are being shared by both
Global Winds Harvest and Acciona.

Prairie Mills Wind
Farm
Prairie Mills is a
144MW project located in the agricultural heartland
of Illinois - Abraham Lincoln country – and
represents another joint development effort of Global Winds
Harvest and Acciona. The project will consist of approximately
95 x 1.5MW machines sited over thousands of acres of broad
cropland with over 70 partner
landowners.
