Projects in Advanced Development Stage

Bear Creek Wind Farm (Kansas)

Global Winds Harvest began developing the Bear Creek project in 2004 and partnered with Acciona in 2007. Located just south of Syracuse, KS, this 135 MW project recently received county approval and is scheduled to begin construction in 2010. Approximately 90 x 1.5MW machines will be sited over several thousand acres of crop and grazing land and the power from these turbines will be delivered into the Southwest Power Pool. The estimated cost of the project is over $300 million and payments to the county will exceed $6 million over the project’s 20+ year lifespan.

The 138MW project is currently going through the state-level permitting process and construction is expected to begin in 2010. Development chores are being shared by both Global Winds Harvest and Acciona.
